When does The Open Office open?+
We're opening soon — the target is January 2027. We're not open yet. Founders will be the first to get access and will hear from us directly with the exact date and entry details.
What happens if you don't open on time?+
If we're not open by the end of January 2027, every founder gets a full refund of everything they've paid. No forms, no arguments.
How much do I pay now?+
There's no deposit. On a monthly founder plan you pay your first month upfront to secure your spot, and your next payment isn't due until after we open. On a one-year package you pay for the full 12 months upfront, and your year starts on opening day.
What does "founder rate" mean?+
The first 30 members lock in Unlimited at £99/month (later £149) or Dedicated at £149/month (later £199) for as long as they keep their membership.
What is the founder one-year package?+
Pay for 12 months upfront and get 2 months free: Unlimited for £990 (instead of £1,188 at £99/month) or Dedicated for £1,490 (instead of £1,788 at £149/month). Your 12 months start on the day we open, and the same full refund applies if we're not open by the end of January 2027. Paying upfront also helps us fit out the space to a high standard before opening.
What's the difference between Unlimited and Dedicated?+
Unlimited lets you use any free hot desk, 24/7. Dedicated gives you your own reserved desk that's always yours — leave your monitor and set-up in place.
Do you have drop-in passes?+
Yes. A 2-Hour Pass is £4.76 and a Day Pass is £13.99 — one-off, no membership needed. Book online, pick a desk on the map or let us allocate one, and your access works only for the time you've booked.
What happens when my 2-Hour or Day Pass ends?+
Your access ends automatically when your pass expires — the app/door code and Wi‑Fi stop working at the end time. You'll get a soft reminder 15 minutes before, and the desk is then freed for the next booking. The exit door always opens from the inside, so you're never locked in. Unlimited and Dedicated members aren't timed — stay as long as you like, 24/7.
Can I choose my desk?+
Yes. When you book a 2-Hour or Day Pass you can tap any free hot desk on the floor map, or let us allocate one for you (we spread people out so it stays calm). Members on Unlimited can use any free hot desk; Dedicated members have their own desk.
What's in the break area?+
A calm break and games corner: two retro MAME arcade cabinets, table football, a board games shelf, books and magazines, a lounge sofa and free tea & coffee. It's for members, and for pass holders during their booked time. It's set apart from the desks so the work area stays quiet.
Where exactly is it?+
Central Canterbury. We'll share the full address with members ahead of opening.
How do automated entry and exit work?+
There's no reception desk to wait for. You'll tap in with the member app on your phone or a key card at the door reader, and the door releases automatically from the inside when you leave — any time of day or night. Members receive their secure access credentials before opening day.
Can I cancel?+
Monthly memberships have no long-term contract — cancel any time. The one-year package is a prepaid 12-month term; at the end of it you can renew at your founder rate or switch to monthly. If you leave, the founder rate isn't held for you, so the spot goes to someone else.
Can I use the address for my business?+
Yes — add a Virtual office (£25/month) for a professional Canterbury business address, or Mail & parcel handling (£10/month) to have deliveries kept safe for you.
